James's family carried the duty of protecting every Psyche, or Fountain of life, from the Brownrick family. Originally James wanted to marry Cecilia Armash, Carrera's mother, but she denied him. This is why he brought Carerra to be Henry's wife, since the Psyche are found in Cecilia's bloodline.
