Yupi's father worked for the Arasaka Corporation until his death. While laying flowers at his niche at North Oak's Columbarium, she witnessed an attack on an Arasaka Executive, and started trailing the instigators, and invited them to her home.

Throughout the season, Yupi behaves as a "ride-or-die" partner, using her inherited massive wealth and resources to fuel D's increasingly reckless, cyberware-fueled crusade against Arasaka. Unlike others who try to pull D back from the brink, Yupi continually enables his poor decisions and radical behavior. Her enabling behavior ultimately speeds up their downfall. During a chaotic confrontation, D's crew is heavily targeted by Arasaka. Yupi stays fiercely loyal to D until the very end, but she is caught in the crossfire and killed, while D is captured.
