Known as: Yamada-san (山田さん) / Mami (マミ, hostess name) Note: "Yamada" is a fake surname she impulsively gave when Mii-chan asked for her real name. "Mami" is her hostess name. Her actual given name and family name remain unrevealed even in the latest volume. A 21-year-old university student (third-year) who works part-time as a hostess at the cabaret club "Ephemere" in Kabukicho, Shinjuku in 2012. Pragmatic and somewhat jaded by the harsh realities of the nightlife industry, she tends to keep her emotional distance from others. However, after an unexpected encounter with the hopelessly clumsy yet pure-hearted newbie Mii-chan, she finds herself slowly but irreversibly drawn into the younger woman's chaotic and heartbreaking world.
