Akane is the head of the Yakou family, a yakuza family distantly related to the Ryougi. Several months ago Ziz made a bet with Akane: His student Bai Ruolong would kidnap her granddaughter Akira Yakou. If the Yakous got Akira back they could do whatever they wanted with Bai Ruolong; conversely, if Ruo succeeded then Ziz could do whatever he wanted with Akira.
