Duchess Valdemar of the North

Wife of Duke of Gustave and the mother of Giovinetta Valdemar, Johannes Valdemar, Winfried Valdemar. She is the last surviving descendant of the Ducommun name. The duchess was harsh and distant from her children, harboring a deep-seated aversion to her son, Johannes, as she asserted that she would protect Giovinetta from him at all costs. Giovinetta did not understand her and called her more often "that woman" than mother.
