Iori Igarashi

Main protagonist of the medical manga Radiation House, written by Tomohiro Yokomaku and illustrated by Taishi Mori. On the surface, he works as a medical radiographer at Amakasu General Hospital. However, he is secretly a fully licensed, world-class medical doctor whose exceptional skills were highly recognized during his time working in the United States. Despite his prestigious medical qualifications, he actively chooses to work as a radiology technician rather than a physician. His unconventional career path is entirely driven by a childhood promise he made to his crush, An Amakasu. They vowed that she would become a doctor and he would become a radiographer to work by her side and support her. Driven by this lifelong goal and his firm belief that the absolute truth of a patient's condition is always revealed through visual images, Iori developed a genius-level ability to read and interpret X-rays, MRIs, and CT scans. This unparalleled diagnostic skill allows him to uncover hidden, "invisible diseases" that other experienced doctors completely overlook. Despite his immense medical talent, Iori is highly socially inept, which frequently leads to awkward and misunderstood interactions with his colleagues at the hospital. Adding to his personal struggles, upon finally reuniting with An Amakasu, he discovers that she has completely forgotten their childhood connection. Initially, she even looks down on him, believing he is merely a low-level technician and completely unaware of his true medical credentials. Nevertheless, Iori patiently endures this treatment, choosing to act as an unsung hero behind the scenes to silently guide the medical staff and save patients' lives.
