Sand Man

Sandman comes from a Native American tribe, yet had recently become ostracized for his embracing of the "white man's" culture. Despite this, he enters the Steel Ball Run race, hoping to use the prize money as a means of buying back his ancestor's land and protecting his tribe. Soon he establishes himself as one of the fiercest and unique competitors in the race, choosing to travel completely on foot.

Eventually, he is brought out by the President who promised to provide him with the funds to reach his goal; if he hunted down Johnny Joestar and Gyro Zeppeli and retrieved their Saint's Corpse parts for him. He teams up with Diego Brando briefly to attack the main duo near the banks of the Mississippi River with his stand In a Silent Way.

During the fight, Sandman reveals that his name "Sandman" is actually a mistranslation of his Native American tribe name "Soundman"
